Encouragement For When Things Don’t Go As Planned

How often do we think that God has called it quits when our story’s don’t unfold the way we’d planned or hoped they would?

I think a lot; I mean, #justthinkingoutloud is one of my most used hashtags for a reason. (not that you knew that, but it is lol)

Anyway, I was thinking about my beginning. Granted, I don’t remember much about my birth, but I can almost recall my upbringing like it happened yesterday. In the genesis of time, God perfectly crafted His original intent for mankind and shared it with us in His diary, as I’d like to call it. And in comparison with God’s intentions and my realities, I found myself questioning if my life should look different. Without realizing that even the weakest, most miserable of times can be, will be, and in many cases have been, worked together for my good.

God doesn’t cause bad stuff, but He can use it if we allow Him to.

So much has happened in my life in the last six months alone that I thought would take me out, but when I gave it all a second glance, I discovered that written within it all was the possibility for God to do what He does best. With that, I’m learning how to take my ALL—the messes, the junk, the good, and even the extraordinary (cause it ain’t all bad)—to God. To the One who doesn’t carelessly recycle but intentionally restores, renews, and refreshes.

From that place, I get to see all of life’s happenings and uncertainties, not as failures, but as an opportunity for a reset. And more importantly, an opportunity for God to show up, show out and create a glory story that works out for my good and His glory. Things not going as planned don’t have to leave a bad taste in our mouths because God is faithful even still.

Remember, God hasn’t called it quits just because things don’t go as planned or how you hoped they would. God has promised to never leave nor forsake you, to be with you always, and to never relax His hold on you. God loves you, God is with you, and God is absolutely for you! He knows the plans that He has for us and He will help us live them out.
