Shh... I'm Planning: Elevate Your Intentions for a Remarkable Year Ahead!
It’s all about intention and a matter of prioritizing what’s most important. As a recovering people pleaser and recovering procrastinator for that matter, I’m finally learning the importance of making time. It’s funny because we’ve all been given 24 hour days to do what we want and need to do, yet so many of us claim to not have enough time. I’m apart of that group, “Hi, my name is Jasmine and I don’t have time to… (fill in the blank).”
I don’t know about you but I’ve been staring at the start of this year and comparing it to that of last year and scratching my head in wonder of how I can make this a better year. It feels like I did so little, when I did quite a bit. It feels like I made so little, when again, I made quite a bit. It’s well about perspective. But because I want to always be growing, I really wanted to dive in to what I can do to make this year even better than last year.
In order to do that, I had to get honest with myself about all the things. One thing for sure is, I definitely have the time to do what I need and want to do, it’s not about having time but making time. They say we make time for what’s important to us, and if I could role the tape and replay last year, I’d find what was really important to me versus what wasn’t, at least according to how I spent my time.
Time will tell, it will always tell.
Another area I looked at was my finances, how did I spend my money? As Jesus said in Matthew 6, “Where your treasure is, your heart will be also..” (v.21) and I found where my heart was. It was certainly in a myriad of places. None absolutely bad but also not best. Let’s just say, with the amount of boba tea I bought, I should open a boba tea shop of my own. Food was also high on the list. What can I say, I like to eat and drink boba tea. I’m also taking donations lol, just kidding… sorta.
Lastly, I also took note of what was going on within me; I took a look at my heart. I examined what was coming out of me; the words I was saying, the thoughts I was thinking, what I did and the things I was believing. It wasn’t pretty. In fact, it’s still a work in progress. If I’m being honest, it’s a work I haven’t wanted to face but it must be done. I found that some things I’d given my attention to had been attending to me. To make it make sense, out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks and what I let speak TO me began to speak THROUGH me.
All that in mind, I had to make some decisions. I had to be intentional. I’m still in the process and I have no idea how long I’ll be here but I’ll only stay stuck if I choose to do nothing so here we are. I decided I needed to make a plan of action and stick with it. I love the do not disturb feature, so I made it a bestie and decided to close myself away to work on the goals and dreams I’ve had in my heart, or on my hard drive, for so long.
That said, I created a daily planner with the intention of solitude in mind. The planner itself has space for you to write goals for each month and plans for each day to go along with said goals or for simple general planning; whatever the need may be. I’ve also included a quote for each month that each speak to the importance of planning and solitude because in our crazy busy world where no one has time, when we sit and prioritize the time we do have, we’ll find that we actually have more time than we think we do.
If you’re like me and wanting to be more intentional with your plans and how you spend your time this year, get your copy of my new digital planner, Shh… I’m Planning and go out and make those plans!
